Tanveer Mir is an award winning cinematographer based out of Mumbai, he was born and brought up in Kashmir & is an avid nature lover for the obvious reasons;initially nature enticed him to capture the beauty around him which lead him to photography first & the cinematography followed naturally.Tanveer’s diploma film ‘and she flies’ which was shot on fujifilm was the only nomination from South Asia for lazlo kovacs ASC for best cinematography award at the very prestigious award show camerimage film festival Poland which is called as Oscar awards for cinematographers aswell. Tanveer got the best cinematography award at the very prestigious Ananda Vikatan Awards for his feature film ‘Psycho’ starring Aditi Rao hyderi, Nithya Menon & udhaynidhi stallion, the film was directed by Mysskin & the Music was composed by legendary Maestro ilaiyaraja sir. Tanveer was nominated in best cinematography category for the Critics Choice Awards Mumbai alongside Bulbul & Ludo and was nominated at SIIMA aswell for the same. Tanveer won the best cinematography for music video lalnawath at Dada Sahab Phalke Awards. Tanveer has shot few feature films other than music videos and commercials. His latest is Ranneti balakot & beyond which was released on Jio cinema recently got rave reviews from all the quarters alike and has finished shooting Nausikhyee for Lionsgate films aswell which is slated to release later this year. After finishing his visual communication he went to do Masters in cinematography. After the convocation at film school where he was awarded silver medal for the best cinematography for his Diploma film. Tanveer was fortunate to join legendary cinematographer pc sreeram sir for six years with whom he worked as an associate cinematographer & second unit cinematographer for Shankar’s ai, shamitabh, ki & ka, Padman and ok. Kanmani to name a few. During that time only he was lucky to discuss and observe the master Directors at work likes of Shankar sir, R. Balki & Mani Ratnam sir.
